Hello. Sorry that it’s been ages since I posted. I just haven’t been in a posty kind of mood.
I want to share this dish that I had last night at Jeng Chi in Richardson. It’s braised pork belly with fermented red tofu. At least I believe that’s what the pork belly was braised in. I really should have paid more attention to the menu.
The waiter explained that the fermented red tofu sauce was sweet when I asked him about it. I was trying to decide which pork belly dish I wanted to order. They had three.
We decided on this one, because it just sounded good. As you can see it came in this clay pot. It doesn’t look like there’s a lot in there, but they packed five huge pieces of pork belly in there.
Doesn’t that look amazing?! The fermented red tofu sauce was definitely sweet. It tasted of five spice and reminded me of Chinese barbecue pork.
I only had one piece which totally filled me up. It’s very rich so I don’t think I could have handled more than one.
We also had soup dumplings. We ordered the pork and crab meat ones, but they had many combinations to choose from. It was so good!
Just look at all the soup in this dumpling! Delicious!!!
If you’re in the Richardson area and like Chinese food go give Jeng Chi a try. You won’t be disappointed.
