I just don’t want to look back and think “I could have eaten that.”

Country Apple Dumpling

I downloaded this app on my iPhone called Yummly a few months ago. I don’t cook all that much, but this doesn’t stop me from looking and saving recipes on this app.

One recipe that I came across was from allrecipes. A user named docswife posted a recipe for Country Apple Dumplings that looked so easy that I could not pass this dessert up for Thanksgiving.

This recipe only uses 6 ingredients and makes 16 servings.

  1. 2 Granny Smith apples
  2. 20 ounces refrigerated crescent rolls
  3. 1 cup of butter
  4. 1 1/2 cup of white sugar
  5. 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  6. 12 fl. ounces of Mountain Dew

img_1072.jpgHere’s a batch of 6 that has cooled down. The glaze/sauce is quite sweet, but it’s perfect for this dessert. Even though you use Mountain Dew in the recipe it does not taste like it.

img_1115.jpgHere’s a dumpling with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was an AMAZING combination. I am a huge fan of apple pie and I thought this was a terrific alternative. I am not a pie maker so this recipe was pretty much made for me.

img_1116.jpgCan you see the slice of apple that’s in the dumpling? It has softened so much that it’s mushy. I’m not sure if it’s suppose to hold it’s shape, but I liked how it turned out.
