I just don’t want to look back and think “I could have eaten that.”

Fried whole belly clams

I was in the mood for seafood last week so Bria and I went to Seabreeze Fish Market and Grill in Plano. Oysters are not in season so I knew that I wasn’t going to be able to order the fried oyster plate. However, I could at least get fried clams. I was extremely delighted to see that on top of their usual fried clams, Seabreeze also had fried whole belly clams on their menu. I’ve always wanted to try them and the places that serve them in North Texas are pretty far. Not that I wouldn’t drive for food, but it’s better if I happen to be in the area. You know what I mean?

The whole belly clams were really meaty and clammy. The belly part was really flavorful. Oceany even. Yes, that’s a word. It was also pretty chewy in certain parts. I loved them so much!!! I wish we had more places in North Texas that serve these yummy little things. Of course, they are pretty pricey. This plate was around $24. These clams are way cheaper in New England where you can get your hands on them easily, but not so much down here.

I was told that Seabreeze has whole belly clams once a month (towards the end of the month). They sell them until they’re gone and then it’s taken off the menu. You might want to give them a call to see if they have any more in case you’re in the mood from.
