I just don’t want to look back and think “I could have eaten that.”

Indonesian Ginger Chicken

I came across this recipe for Indonesian Ginger Chicken on a post from Noble Pig. She in turn got the recipe from the Barefoot Contessa herself, Ina Garten. The pictures that she took of the chicken looked so good that I had to try the recipe out.

It’s really simple. There’s only 5 ingredients and everyone pretty much has these items in their kitchen.

INDONESIAN GINGER CHICKEN – A RECIPE
Author:
Recipe type: Entree
Cuisine: Indonesian...?

Ingredients
  • 1 cup honey
  • ¾ cup soy sauce (reduced sodium)
  • ¼ cup minced garlic (8 to 12 cloves)
  • ½ cup peeled and grated fresh ginger root
  • 2 chickens (3-1/2 lbs each), quartered, with backs removed. (I used chicken thighs and wings)
Instructions
  1. cup honey
  2. ¾ cup soy sauce (reduced sodium)
  3. ¼ cup minced garlic (8 to 12 cloves)
  4. ½ cup peeled and grated fresh ginger root
  5. chickens (3-1/2 lbs each), quartered, with backs removed. (I used chicken thighs and wings)

The chicken turned out really good. I thought it was very “m” word and flavorful. However, since I’m normally not a huge fan of ginger I would like to try this recipe again without it. I think it would be amazing with just the garlic, honey and soy sauce. The ginger was a little too overwhelming for me.

Now that I think about it if I eliminate the ginger, this recipe would pretty much be the garlic, black pepper and oyster sauce marinated chicken I usually make. Interesting…
