My mom makes this Thai style ceviche with raw oysters. This is one of my favorite dishes and I thought I’d share some pictures.
Can you even tell those are oysters? It kind of looks weird doesn’t it? I will let your imagination run wild.
You buy fresh oysters that come in those air tight containers at any grocery store. Mind the best by date though. Rinse thoroughly to make sure you remove any impurities.
My mom washes the oysters with vinegar to get rid of the fishy smell and sliminess. Then she sets them aside in the fridge and prepares the marinade/sauce.
The sauce is really easy. It’s fish sauce, lime juice, minced garlic, chopped Thai chilis, chopped cilantro and maybe a dash of sugar. I hope not forgetting anything….
