Last Sunday I decided to take my mother out for a girls only day. We got up early for a Sunday and headed over to IHOP for breakfast. I love me some IHOP. There’s just so much good stuff on their menu!
Look at the different types of syrup that they offer. Would you believe that I’ve never tried any of these? When I go to IHOP I never order pancakes. I have an amazing pancake recipe so when I go out for breakfast, pancakes are not something that I usually order. If you are interested in the pancake recipe, please click here.
Now I’m no coffee connoisseur, but I think they have great coffee. You can get flavored coffee too. At least that’s what I recall from a previous visit. We got hazelnut last time, but just regular this time.
I think my mom’s eyes were bigger than her stomach that morning, because she ordered the Breakfast Sampler. Look at all that food! She got eggs over easy, hash browns, sausage, bacon, ham and pancakes!
I wanted everything on the menu, but decided on the half order of the Breakfast Crepe instead.
The Breakfast Crepe is a crepe filled with scrambled eggs, ham, and bacon. It’s then smothered in a cheese sauce with more bacon added on top. It was DELICIOUS! I highly recommend this dish if you’re ever at IHOP.
After our amazing breakfast I took mom to Sunshine Miniature Trees in Dallas. Bria has been a few times and ever since she told me about it I’ve wanted to go. Mom loves plants and I thought this would be a nice treat for her.
Mom immediately went to look at the citrus plants when we got there. Bria had bought a Meyer lemon plant from Sunshine so mom was really interested in that. As it turned out they had Mexican lime plants as well. This worked out great for her, because Thai cooking uses limes. After picking out a lime plant mom found a miniature orange tree. Well, of course we had to get that one too. Add in a star jasmine plant and she was all set!
Sunshine is known for their wonderful Bonsai trees and since I’ve always wanted one (ever since Mr. Miyagi and the Karate Kid), I decided to pick one out for myself. They have different types of Bonsai, but I needed one that was not high maintenance. So I went home with a Fukien Tea.
Here’s my little guy. What do you think? He’s kind of messy right now, but after a little grooming he’ll be pretty!
