I just don’t want to look back and think “I could have eaten that.”

The Lunch That Wasn’t

Last Thursday Steven and I were at Coal Vines for lunch. We sat down and perused the menu for a minute. We already knew what we wanted to eat so looking through the menu was a waste of time. Steven ordered the meatball sliders and I ordered my usual, penne vodka with Italian sausage.

The picture above is the version with grilled chicken. We were enjoying the fried zucchini chips when I received a call. It was from my mother. My parents were involved in a minor car accident and she asked if I could come pick them up. That’s not a call that you expect to get so of course I flagged down the waitress. I asked her if they had started on our order yet, because I had to leave.

I told them why, but offered to pay for my meal. The staff at Coal Vines was amazing. They said absolutely not and told me to hurry to my parents. I was relieved to find that my parents were fine. No harm other than fright and soreness that would not set in until the following day. I had no time for anxiety that day. I was just thankful that my parents and the other driver were okay. Their cars did not fare so well, but they were all fine which is all you can ask for.

Now that things have settled down I think I should take my parents to Coal Vines. We’ll definitely have to order the penne vodka. You can add grilled chicken or Italian sausage to it which is great. I’ve been known to add both from time to time. It’s really good and I highly recommend it.
